Origins of Sacramento Food Tour is Popular With Our Past Participants:

***This tour far exceeded my expectations. Our guide was the perfect hostess and historian making sure everyone was happy, educated and stuffed with great food. The restaurants made us feel welcomed and a special thanks to Chef Shannan at Cafe Bernardo’s who gave me a new respect for their attention to detail. I plan on revisiting all of the restaurants on this tour. And will be attending the other tours offered by this company.

***This was my second tour with Local Roots Food Tours and it was fabulous! This time, I took my sister and her husband for his birthday. Food… Fun… Family… a perfect way to celebrate!! The tour “Origins of Sacramento” began in mid-town at Cafe Bernarndo’s where we were treated to Chef Shannan’s amazing Amaretto French Toast… did I say AMAZING?? What a treat! From there each stop was equally as amazing. I loved that the food stops were separated with some walking. Our tour guide Lisa, was fun, energetic and very knowledgeable about Sacramento’s history. From Sutter’s Fort to the beautiful homes to the incredible churches – the walking tour was filled with historical facts and magnificent views. The selection of food stops was perfect. The foods we sampled (huge sample sizes) were served immediately as we arrived, no waiting. I loved the variety of foods… especially the desserts, cupcakes and gelato!! I would highly recommend this tour, for out of towners and well as locals. It’s a wonderful way to spend a few hours… a real treat!!

***  The Local Roots Food Tour was phenomenal. We were pleased to meet Chef Shannan Berg. She was very informative and spent quite a bit of time introducing us to organic foods and cooking information.  At that restaurant four of the food tour guests were served Amaretto French Toast. The portion sizes were large.  If you take this tour eat a light breakfast and be prepared to leave full. Our guide was amazing! I highly recommend this experience.

***  All of the food and spirits were fabulous. Especially loved the scallops seared to perfection. Enjoyed listening to the chefs and their passion for cooking. Also learned some local history, a few hauntings included. Our leader was an amazing tour guide. Look forward to revisiting the restaurants and taking another tour.

***  There was so much delicious food! The tour included 5 restaurants. The portions were much larger than just a “tasting”. We were full by the third restaurant but the food was so good it was easy to keep eating. It helped to have the short walk between restaurants. Our guide was terrific. Very entertaining and informative. The chefs who spoke with us were engaging and offered interesting insights. I only wish we were staying in Sacramento longer. I would have liked to go back to some of the restaurants for dinner. If you’re in Sacramento take this tour right away. You’ll discover great places to eat for the rest of your stay.
